Group pilot training for owners and their crews

Train the aircraft owner and the pilots who fly alongside them in one visit. Ken Petschow delivers initial and recurrent training for the principal and two to three additional pilots, together, in your own aircraft, at your home airport.

One aircraft, one standard

Everyone who flies your aircraft, trained together

Most high-performance aircraft are not flown by one pilot alone. The owner is often joined by a professional pilot, a co-pilot or a family member who shares the flying. Each of them needs to know the aircraft completely, and each needs current, documented training to satisfy your insurer.

A PAS group course brings that training together. Ken typically trains the principal and two to three additional pilots in a single visit. Ground school is shared, so every pilot learns the same systems, procedures and callouts. Flight training is then delivered one-on-one in your aircraft, so each pilot is trained to proficiency in their own right.

The result is a crew that operates to one standard, a single training visit instead of several, and complete records for every pilot named on your policy.

Who it is for

Built for owner-flown and crewed aircraft

Owners and their pilots

For principals who fly their own aircraft with a professional pilot, co-pilot or relief pilot alongside them.

Family and partner pilots

For aircraft shared by family members or business partners, so every pilot flying it meets the same standard.

Small flight departments

For corporate operators with a small pool of pilots on one type, including new-to-type crews after an aircraft purchase.

How it works

How a group course runs

01

Plan with Ken

Tell Ken your aircraft, your base and the pilots to be trained. He confirms the program, schedule and quote.

02

Shared ground school

The whole crew completes ground school together: systems, performance, emergency procedures and CRM.

03

Individual flight training

Each pilot flies one-on-one with Ken in your aircraft, trained to proficiency, not just to a checkride.

04

Records for every pilot

Each pilot receives logbook entries and training documentation to support your insurance requirements.

Aircraft

Group training in the aircraft you operate

Group courses are available for every aircraft we train in. Training is conducted under FAA Part 61 with a “train to proficiency” approach, and can be delivered at any airport in the United States, at our Upland, California base, or internationally.

Frequently asked questions

Group training questions, answered

How many pilots can train in a group course?

Ken most often trains the principal and two to three additional pilots in one visit. Larger groups can be accommodated; call Ken to discuss your crew.

Does each pilot fly individually?

Yes. Ground school is shared, but flight training is delivered one-on-one, so every pilot is trained to proficiency in the aircraft in their own right.

Will each pilot receive training records for insurance?

Yes. Every pilot receives logbook entries and training documentation to support your insurance requirements.

How is a group course priced?

Group courses are quoted individually based on the aircraft, the number of pilots and their experience. Travel and accommodation are quoted separately when we come to you. See the price list for individual course pricing.
